Tour Details

This 3-day Tanzania safari begins and ends in Arusha town, the base for all Northern Tanzania safari tours.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Early morning pick-up from Arusha (or Moshi town) will take you through the Maasai Steppe via Makuyuni Junction. You’ll then descend to Tarangire National Park.

This park, now the fifth largest in Tanzania, is famous for its massive baobab trees and extraordinary herds of elephants. Tarangire is a must-see for any African safari enthusiast, especially those who love “jumbos” (elephants) or other large game. The park is home to numerous animal species, including some rare breeds like the oryx and hirola, as well as a variety of bird species. In the evening, you’ll drive out of the park and check in at the amazing Fig Tree Lodge in Mto wa Mbu or a similar accommodation.

Meals: Lunch, dinner, and breakfast Accommodation: Fig Tree Lodge

Day 2: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, you’ll drive towards the Ngorongoro Crater, also known as the 8th Wonder of the World. Upon arrival, you’ll register at the Loduare Main Gate and then descend into the crater for a thrilling game drive with a picnic lunch included on the crater floor.

The “crater” (technically a caldera) is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a renowned natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest animal populations.

Meals: Lunch, dinner, and breakfast Accommodation: Marera Valley Lodge

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park

Enjoy an early morning breakfast at the lodge (or opt for a packed breakfast and lunch). You’ll then descend into the Great Rift Valley floor to explore Lake Manyara National Park. The park is known for its acacia trees and tree-climbing lions, often spotted taking afternoon naps on the branches. Many other animals commonly seen in this evergreen park include impalas, giraffes, buffaloes, and dik-diks. In the afternoon, you’ll be transferred back to your Arusha hotel or airport.
